"Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ"
1 Peter 2:4-5

    Faith Under Fire in Sudan

    Peter Hammond

The longest war of this century is still in progress and is intensifying - in the largest country in Africa, Sudan. Since 1955 the Muslim Arab North has been attacking the Christian Black South.

The first edition of 'Faith Under Fire in Sudan' lifted the virtual news blackout on this colossal conflict and exposed the scorched earth tactics, systematic terror bombing of civilian targets and the resurgence of the slave trade in Sudan.

Now the author has updated and expanded the book to include the most recent first-hand accounts of the horrific atrocities and the inspiring stories fo Christian faith. Despite suffering some of the wrost persecution in the world today many churches in Sudan are experiencing real revival and spectacular growth. This book will introduce you to some of the unforgettable heroes of Sudan and their legacy.

"What a story, what courage to obtain it, what determination it displays about the Sudanese Christians who do not succumb to Islam in its cruellest and worst manifestation in the world today! Would that Christians around the world read this sobering account and support our brothers and sisters in the Faith in prayer, publicity and practical help. 'Faith Under Fire in Sudan' is a vital publication...it deserves a global distribution."

Patrick Johnson, WEC Missionary and Author of 'Operation World'

    Greatest Century of Reformation

    Peter Hammond

'The Greatest Century of Reformation' presents the incredible stories of the courageous Reformers and the events that God used to bring about the greatest Revival of faith and freedom in history.

The Reformation was one of the most momentous turning points in world history. It was led by men of strong faith, deep convictions, great intelligence, high moral standards and tremendous courage.

The energies that were released by the rediscovery of the Bible in the common tongue, led to the most extraordinary spiritual Revival in history. The Reformation freed the Christians of Northern Europe from the decadence of Renaissance paganism and led to the greatest birth of freedom and scientific discoveries in history. The Reformers of the 16th Century won for us the principles of religious freedom, liberty of conscience, the rule of law, separation of powers and constitutionally limited republics.

Read about the Reformers who changed the world forever.

"There has never been a greater need for a book on the Reformation than now. Historical facts have been, at best, ignored or blurred, at worst evacuated! The absolutes of yesterday, Sole Scriptura, Sola Fide... no longer hold sway. Instead, the uncertainties of open theology, the vagueries of experimental theology and the insistence on unity have all but cancelled the non-negotiables of the Reformation!

To be reminded of the major battles of yesterday, and the men who paid the supreme sacrifice for the upholding of Truth, is vital if the present generation is not to sell out to the trends and the fads which are culturally inherited and have nothing to do wth the Gospel as revealed once and for all to the saints!

Peter Hammond, in his unique non-compromising style, leaves the reader with no alternative...either a return to the Biblical revelation or the ongoing pursuit of man-pleasing religion!"

Mike Evans, Principal, Geneva Bible Institute

    Greatest Century of Missions

    Peter Hammond

'The Greatest Century of Missions' is a treasure trove of incredible adventures, inspiring exploits and unbelievable achievements of some of the most extra-ordinary people in the most momentous era of Christian advance

This book will be an invaluable resource for pastors and missionaries and a textbook for senior homeschoolers, Christian schools and Bible colleges. It should be required reading for prospective missionaries.

"The nineteenth century missions movement...was a great era of Biblical faith. Appropriately, Dr Peter Hammond beautifully captures this remarkable multi-faceted lefacy in 'The Greatest Century of Missions'. Not only does his fluid narrative make the individual missionaries come to life, he highlights their vision, their motivation, their theological faithfulness, and their long-tern cultural impact.

It is my prayer that as modern Christians read this much needed book, they will see the great pioneers, these culture-shapers, these soul-winners and nation-builders of the nineteenth century in an entirely new light - and that we will model our own twenty-first century efforts after theirs. I am convinced that if we do, we too will see a glorious transformation of men and nations."

    Dr. George Grant

    Discipleship Handbook

    Peter Hammond

The Discipleship Handbook is an invaluable resource including studies on The Cross, The Fear of God, The Holy Spirit, God's Law, Restitution, Prayer, Evangelism, Conflict, Time Management, Hospitality, Videos, Games and TV, Animals, Revival and How to Change the World.

The Discipleship Handbook deals with the most important issues possible. There is nobody more important than God and nothing more important than our relationship to Him. This is what really, ultimately matters that we know God and that we make Him known.

The Discipleship Handbook is packed full of great insights, practical instruction and Biblical inspiration to enable us to love God more wholeheartedly, to serve Him more effectively, to obey Him more constantly, to worship Him more acceptably.

"Jesus Christ told us that we are to make disciples of all nations. This goes beyond evangelism and involves the discipling of young believers into mature soldiers of Christ. This should be the goal of every church and every Christian.

"Peter Hammond's new book, Discipleship Handbook is an excellent guide in the discipling of new Christians. I recommend it for everyone's use."
Dr. D James Kennedy, President Evangelism Explosion International

"Once again Dr. Peter Hammond has given much thought to different aspects of the whole question of discipleship. What I like about the Discipleship Handbook is the practical down to earth substance that is provided.

"I believe the truths conveyed here can be given across any cultural, denominational and linguistic barrier. I recommend it to those not only young in the faith but to all. For many who are preachers you will find much preaching material included."
Dr Harold Peasley, Director Multi Ministries : Southern Africa

"I so appreciate both the strong Biblical content and the historical depth evident in this little book. It is also a reflection of the spiritual lessons learned by the author in decades of 'high risk' ministry . Here is an unusual discipling tool which offers no easy pathway for Christians to follow, but one that offers a spiritual road-map for 21st Century believers in a hostile world and a challenge to complete the Great Commission task Jesus gave to His Church."
Patrick Johnstone, WEC International, Author; Operation World.

"Jesus said to go and make disciples. Too often we seem to have changed that to go and make converts. If every Christian took the time to read this comprehensive guide to discipleship, we would indeed have more disciples and less baby Christians who seem to remain as perpetual infants in the Lord.”
Jerry Newcombe, Senior Producer of The Coral Ridge Hour and co-author of What if Jesus Had Never Been Born?.

"Many books promise so much, but deliver little. Never Dr. Hammond's. The Discipleship Handbook is a concise, power packed blend of stark testimonies, sound foundational teaching, and real life guidelines based on Scripture. There are no clever complexities, nothing vague or outlandish, and no tedious extrapolation. The message is a tough one, but it's the real thing."
    Hedd Thomas, Missionary, Kenya

"This is a manual born out of years of 'battle' experience. I believe, as an ex-combatant, having served alongside Peter Hammond during our National Service days, experiencing opposition and having to contend daily for the faith the conception of a Discipleship Handbook took place. Twenty three years of experience later the Discipleship Handbook has been birthed.

"As a soldier of Jesus Christ we know that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities and powers of darkness arrayed against our souls. Like the Bible this handbook is a worthy tool one can use as a weapon against the enemy. A must for any 'soldier' worthy of the Call."
Johan Leach - Executive Director of Waymakers Ministries, Director 'The Farm' Cape Town.

"The Discipleship Handbook is a must for every serious leader and believer. In this age of watered down 'easy believism' and 'cheap grace' we need this "Discipleship Handbook" by Dr. Peter Hammond. Whether we like it or not this life will soon be over and face to face we will meet our Creator.

"That is why we need a book - which to me is next to my Bible. It is the greatest investment to have it. For me I want all our former, present and future Bible College students, all the prisoners we minister to and all my fellow Christians to have it. And I want it translated into my local language. You will never be the same after reading it."
Nedson W Milanzi - Leader Good News Revival Centre, Principal World Harvest School of Missions and Coordinator for Project Destiny in Prisons of Malawi

“Handbooks are handy because they help us to actually do (or be) certain things. Peter Hammond's Discipleship Handbook is one you will want to keep close at hand. It is a treasure trove of practical truth for anyone interested in following Jesus Christ. It is simple enough to bless and encourage a new Christian and profound enough to inspire a seasoned saint. One time through will not be enough. You will be motivated to read it again and again. It is indeed a classic, in league with Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

“If you love the Word of God, this is a book you will highly esteem. Unless you want to argue with Scripture, you won't be able to refute the logic of its premise. The Discipleship Handbook establishes a Biblical standard to which we can all aspire. It is highly practical, very positive, loaded with appropriate quotations from the Bible and answers concisely in twelve specific categories the question, ‘What is a Christian?’

“Oswald Chambers observed, ‘The secret of a disciple's life is devotion to Jesus Christ, and the characteristic of the life it its unobtrusiveness.’ The Discipleship Handbook will help you achieve that goal.

“Of all the books I've read by Peter Hammond, this is my favorite. Peter is serious about our Lord's command to ‘… go and make disciples … teaching them to obey.’ Matthew 28:19,20. In a day when Christians have lost the shock of sin, and the Church seems to have abandoned the awe of God's holiness, this book will rekindle the smoldering fires of devotion that have burned low for too long.

“It was Carlyle who said, ‘He is wise who can instruct us and assist us in the business of daily virtuous living.’ The Discipleship Handbook will do just that. It is beautifully organized and easy to study. Your investment of time and treasure to buy and read this book will be well worth the effort and expenditure.”
Rev. Bill Bathman, President, In Touch Mission International, author of Going Through.

“Dealing comprehensively with the key issues of discipleship the Discipleship Handbook is an excellent resource tool. It can be confidently given into the hands of young Christians, read on its own or worked through as a group. I pray that God will use it to produce a generation of mature believers, able and willing to contend for the Faith.”
Rev. Stephen Smyth, St. Andrews Church of England in South Africa (CESA).

"Time has gone when people have been led to Christ Jesus and left as babies in the Lord for years and some even die as babies in the Word of God. Spiritual maturity has become a rare thing.

" We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are so slow to understand. By now you should be teachers, but you need someone to teach you again the first lessons of God message ... " Hebrews 5:11 - 12

"The Discipleship Handbook is an amazing instrument because it takes one step by step to the foundational teaching of the Word of God.

"This Handbook is an emphasis on what our Lord Jesus Christ commissioned us to do:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations... " Matthew 28:19

"Once we read the Handbook, we shall be equipped and we shall not be tossed right and left or taken away from the truth as some have been.

"This Handbook caters for both the adults and youths; for rural and urban; for under developed, developing and developed intellectuals. It speaks to the heart, the mind and the soul of man.

"The author has provided this Handbook to equip us to disciple both new and old believers who are not grounded in the Word , so that we may be effective in our lives and ministries. This book is not just theory but also practical.

"I am very confident that this Discipleship Handbook will be a blessing to those who want to change lives and change this world."
Eugene M. Kalunga, Principal, Excellence Christian Academy; Kabwe, Zambia

"I have known Peter Hammond since he was a young man seeking to know what the Lord wanted him to do. From that time, as I have watched what the Lord has done in his life. I have seen the development of a man of God who is skilled in discipleship. He has much that he can contribute from his spiritual and practical experience."
Dr. Chris Parnell, past President of the Baptist Union of Southern Africa; Founding Principal of the Baptist Theological College, Cape Town

"It gives me great pleasure to say 'Read this book!'

"We live in a world where we are in danger of being swamped by Islam, communism and humanism.
It is time to get together to resist the common foe - and to realise that all Christians have a much better chance of settling our differences if we work together as friends.

"Read this book. It is about basic Christianity, about believing it and living it. Nothing is more important than this, for it is our Christian witness which will prove the truth of our faith. And it is our Christian lives which will bring unbelievers to Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."
Father Arthur Lewis, President of the Rhodesia Christian Group, Retired Church of England missionary to Tanzania, Rhodesia and South Africa.

The Ten Commandments - Gods Perfect Law of Liberty

    Peter Hammond

The Ten Commandments – God’s Perfect Law of Liberty

The Ten Commandments – God’s Perfect Law of Liberty is an invaluable resource for Discipleship and Reformation.

Dr. Martin Luther declared: “the first duty of the Gospel preacher is to declare God’s Law and to show the nature of sin.”

The Puritan author of Pilgrims Progress, John Bunyan, said: “A man who does not know the nature of the Law cannot know the nature of sin.”

Charles Spurgeon declared: “They will never accept grace until they tremble before a just and Holy Law.”

“Therefore the Law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” Galatians 3:24

The Ten Commandments – God’s Perfect Law of Liberty identifies the contemporary idols for destruction and clearly shows, step by step, how we can seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, applying the Lordship of Jesus Christ to all areas of life.

It is our heartfelt prayer that the Lord may graciously use this book to bring many people to Christ, to deepen discipleship and to create a greater hunger for spiritual Revival.

“The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” Psalm 19:7

"Never before in Church history has there been such a need to return to the basics of Biblical evangelism. Our churches are filled with false converts, simply because we have abandoned doing what Jesus did when it comes to reaching out to the lost. The disease must be diagnosed before the cured is offered to the patient, or it will, understandably, never be appreciated or appropriated. I thank God for my friend Peter Hammond, and pray that God’s blessing will be on his book, The Ten Commandments--God's Perfect Law of Liberty."
    Ray Comfort
    Way of the Master

“To those who would argue that God does not exist, read this book and each page will reveal that God not only exists, but He knows you better than you do.
Can a single book change a person and an entire nation? This one can!!”
    Todd Friel
    Host, Wretched Radio and TV

From the Forword by Rev. Bill Bathman

As I listened to this series of messages at Livingstone Fellowship, I kept thinking how practical, down to earth and relevant these eternal truths are for us today. Each Sunday, after the message, I thanked the LORD for how He spoke to my heart through His Word and longed that Dr. Hammond might have a wider audience. I rejoice now to see the entire series in this one book.

The Ten Commandments are God’s meterstick by which He measures us and whereby we realize how far short we have fallen of His glory. It is God’s “plumb line” to measure our moral straightness. As our young people would say, “The Ten Commandments are God’s ‘text message’ to keep us in line.”

In today’s man-centered culture, God (when He is considered at all) has become our “Buddy;” an eternal “Blessing Machine,” to be called on whenever we’re in trouble or need a Friend. “One who turns away his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination.” Proverbs 28:9

Many today worship before the idolatrous altar of pluralism, multiculturalism and the inter-faith movement. These false gods are skillfully exposed in this hard-hitting, practical and easy-to-read volume. These gods must go.

The new thoughts and inspiration from the Fifth Commandment were a special blessing to me. You’ll find a whole treasure-trove of them yourself between the covers of this modest tome.

The Eighth Commandment brilliantly exposes Muhammad’s support of theft. “Jihad is one of the most meritorious acts in the eyes of Islam and it is the best source of earnings.” (Mishkat II, Page 340) Muhammad saw theft as a win-win situation. If you won the battle you got the booty. If you lost the battle you got paradise and all those virgins. Muhammad: desert bandit, robber, thief, murderer and paedophile, was a breaker of all Ten Commandments. These are undisputed, well-documented attributes of the founder of the world’s second largest religion as measured by God’s Laws.

Most everyone has heard of, and many have read, the Ten Commandments in the Bible. Having read them many times, I thought I knew just about everything God’s Law requires of believers. This book brings each Commandment to life and makes them relevant to our contemporary culture. Each chapter is a wellspring of delightful surprises with useful information, spiritual inspiration and Christian challenge.

There are some who say, “O the Ten Commandments were just for Old Testament times, they’re not applicable to us today.” This book is written from God’s perspective and has some eye-opening response to that assertion. Jesus said, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” Matthew 5:17

The candor of the author in sharing his testimony of when and where he has failed to obey and how the Lord dealt with him is richly refreshing. It is also very reassuring to know that our Heavenly Father is in the business of restoration. This book will give you an expanded appreciation of His grace and of the awful price He paid for our sins as we, who are truly guilty, have broken most if not all of the Ten Commandments.

South Africa - Renaissance or Reformaton?

    Tom Barlow and Peter Hammond

    Humanism or Christianity?

What do those who call for an "Africa Renaissance" mean? Is it the humanism of the European Renaissance that culminated in the French Revolution and the Soviet gulags? Or are they desiring a return to the pre-Christian paganism that afflicted Africa prior to the spread of the Gospel?

South Africa is at a crossroads. One choice before us is "African Renaissance" with witchdoctors jumping up and down at state events, legalised abortion, pornography, prostitution, gambling, social engineering in schools, racial quotas in the workplace, situation ethics, gun control and out of control crime and violence.

    Repression or Revival

The other choice before us is for a Biblical Reformation. Those nations that enjoy the most civil liberty and economic prosperity are those lands which apply the principles of God's Word to every area of life.

This positive and practical book shows how ideas have consequences. The inevitable consequences that flow from humanism are very tangible and very tragic. An "Africa Renaissance" which eradicates God and His Law from our society would devalue human life and erode the only possible foundation for true freedom and justice.

South Africa must discover the Christian work ethic and limited decentralised government - with genuine separation of powers and serious checks and balances - and other Reformation principles if liberty and justice are to flourish in our country. The choice is ours:

    Quo Vadis South Africa?

Everyone is influenced by a worldview - whether they know it or not. The BWS Manual incisively exposes the dangers and inconsistencies of Humanism and presents the Biblical principles for Economics, Education, government and justice. By applying the Lordship of Christ to all areas of life, this manual is a powerful resource for Reformation.
