Rescue at Jabesh-Gilead

Now the people of Jabesh-Gilead were Israelites, but they were on the wrong side of the Jordan. They were on the East bank of the Jordan, and therefore they were cut off from the main body of the people of Israel, isolated and vulnerable to attack.
